The Seed Oil Scare Is Missing the Point

Ever get whiplash trying to follow wellness trends? One minute it’s “olive oil only,” the next it’s “bring back beef tallow.” Somewhere in there, seed oils got villainized—again. I’ll admit it—I’ve raised eyebrows at them too.

But here’s what I’ve come to believe:

The real issue isn’t seed oils—it’s the industrial food system and overconsumption of ultra-processed foods.

Most of the fear-mongering around seed oils—omega-6s, aldehydes, hexane—has been cherry-picked, overblown, or misinterpreted. The evidence just isn’t as dramatic as the headlines suggest.
