GLP-1s Can Help You Lose Weight—But They May Quietly Steal This, Too

More women than ever are turning to GLP-1 medications like semaglutide to lose weight. Research is beginning to show that they have other health benefits, too.

But research is also revealing a big red flag :

🚩 Up to 40% of the weight lost on semaglutide isn’t fat. It’s muscle.

That includes the muscle that keeps your blood sugar stable. That includes the muscle that protects your bones. It also includes the muscle hat prevents frailty and fatigue as you age.

And the women most at risk for muscle loss?
👉 Women who are post-menopausal.
👉 Women who aren’t eating enough protein.

In other words… probably you, or someone you know.

💥 Losing muscle doesn’t just change how you look. It can change how you live.

Even in a recent study comparing semaglutide users with women on a structured diet-and-lifestyle plan, both groups lost lean mass—just as much as they lost fat. And for the women on semaglutide, those who lost the most muscle also saw less improvement in blood sugar levels.

✨ TRY THIS
If you're using a GLP-1 (or even just aiming to lose weight), don’t let muscle be collateral damage.

  • Prioritize protein—25–30g per meal is your baseline.
  • Start resistance training twice a week. You don’t need a gym—just gravity and consistency.
  • Track how you feel: strength, energy, stamina—not just the number on the scale.

But here’s what I know: research says the more consistently I move, the less those everyday aches and twinges should knock me down. Could it be that I’d feel even more pain if I weren’t exercising regularly? Turns out, yes. A study of over 10,000 adults found that people who exercised more frequently...

I don't know for certain, but I'm hoping it means that I've added to my bone mass and I'm preventing my vertebrae from compressing. The opposite usually happens during aging. Keep this in mind: bones do more than hold you up—they fuel your metabolism. Active bone cells help regulate...
